Blood Testing, Hematology Services & More

Our skilled laboratory team performs over 3 million tests annually that help inform decisions about diagnoses, treatment and hospital admission and discharge. Among the laboratory services we include:

• An in-facility blood bank, offering blood typing, blood drawing, antibody screening, crossmatch and prenatal services
• Chemistry tests, including lipid levels, electrolytes, blood sugar, cardiac makers, drug levels, tumor markers, hormone levels, and hemoglobin A1C
• Hematology resources, such as complete blood counts, coagulation studies and urine testing for urinary tract infections
• Microbiology services, from cultures to rapid DNA probe (PCR) testing and MRSA screenings

Before, during, or after your laboratory testing

• Ask your health care provider to explain your laboratory tests and results to you to keep you involved in your treatment.
• Check with your health insurance provider to see which Laboratory will be performing your testing. If your insurance provider has more than one Laboratory provider, you will be allowed to choose, understanding that copays and deductibles may apply.
• If you have a prescription for blood testing, ask your provider if there are any special requirements, such as fasting, prior to your blood draw.
• Ensure that the person that collects your specimens labels the sample in your presence and verifies your name and date of birth to prevent errors.

Results and Diagnosis

Federal and State law prohibit lab employees from giving patients their results directly. Results are available to you through MyChart, our patient portal. It is important to follow up with your provider for any explanation or concerns regarding your results.
