On December 6, 2018 the Greater Hudson Valley Health System announced a new name for the health system which is the corporate parent of Garnet Health Medical Center - Catskills, Garnet Health Medical Center, Garnet Health Doctors and the Garnet Health Foundation.  The new system name is Garnet Health. Scott Batulis, President & CEO said, “As a growing health care system and expanding medical group, we wanted a name that is simple and easy to explain to our patients and our community.”  Garnet, the New York State gemstone, suggests quality, leadership and healing.

On June 18, 2020 the Greater Hudson Valley Health was renamed Garnet Health which is the corporate parent of Garnet Health Medical Center - Catskills, Garnet Health Medical Center, Garnet Health Doctors, Garnet Health Foundation – Catskills and Garnet Health Foundation.

The name change to Garnet Health reflects that we are a unified health system delivering exceptional care throughout our region.

Garnet Health is dedicated to developing specialty services, medical programs and needed healthcare services that allow residents to remain close to home to receive quality care.

Providing healthcare to approximately 450,000 residents in Orange, Sullivan and Ulster Counties, Garnet Health was designed to improve the quality, stability and efficiency of healthcare services in the mid-Hudson and Catskill region. Garnet Health provides services by more than 4,000 employed professionals and over 850 medical staff members and is recognized by Ethisphere as one of the 2018 and 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies. An academic affiliate of the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, Garnet Health retains compassionate professionals who continually strive toward the hospital’s mission to improve the health of our community by providing exceptional health care.
