How Does Reiki Therapy Work?
Conducted in a quiet environment, the patient will sit or lie comfortably, fully clothed while a certified Reiki Practitioner conducts a session. The Reiki Practitioner will place his/her hands lightly on or just above the patient’s body, typically corresponding to their major energy centers, also known as chakras, and subtle energy centers, known as meridians. The major energy centers vibrate and spin at different frequencies ranging from the top of the head/crown and along the spinal column to the base/tailbone. Other places of light contact may be along the arms, legs and feet. When receiving a session from an accredited Garnet Health Medical Center Reiki Practitioner, these energy centers return to a more balanced state. Some patients report feeling a deep sense of comfort, rest, radiant warmth and a reduction in pain.
