Men focus a lot of their time and energy on work and providing for their families. Concerned wives and moms will also tell you that men can be stubborn about medical care, often taking a wait-and-see or walk-it-off approach to what ails them.
It’s not unusual for men to shy away from looking after themselves, so it’s important to renew awareness of health issues that affect men, and remind guys to pay attention to the health cues their bodies are giving them to get proactive about their health care.
The wait-and-see approach, in particular, can allow health issues to creep up and escalate to the point where it is too late for best possible outcomes once treatment begins.
The way we, at Garnet Health Medical Center, prefer to work with men to provide comprehensive care is to begin with a full exam to get a baseline of a man’s health, and then carry out regular visits with screenings, as appropriate, for health issues that can arise over time. Maintaining optimal health means making sure men monitor themselves, even when they do feel well.
Health Concerns Men Should Be Monitoring With Their Doctors
Our urology team specializes in conditions that affect the urinary tract; we diagnose and help treat different types of related cancers – kidney cancer, bladder cancer, et cetera. While these diseases can also affect women, they are prevalent among men. Prostate cancer is another condition many men are aware of, but which they tend to disregard.
