At the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Garnet Health Medical Center needed to concentrate its efforts on treating very sick patients, and many routine medical visits and screening tests were delayed. We also needed to prepare our hospital and offices, so that patients can have a safe return.

In the past few weeks, breast imaging centers across the country, just like The Ray W. Moody, M.D. Breast Center, are ensuring that patient safety is the top priority. These changes include social distancing, having patients and staff wear masks, decontamination between patients and extended hours to now include Saturdays.

With these changes in place, we want to encourage you to schedule your mammogram.

Here’s what you need to know before making your appointment:

  • Annual mammograms are recommended for all women 40 and older, as long as you are in good health.
  • All you need is a prescription from your doctor and the Ray W. Moody, M.D. Breast Center can help with that.
  • A breast navigator/ liaison is also available to help with scheduling and insurance coverage.

Please note: If you are sick or think you may have been recently exposed to COVID-19, talk to your doctor. Your mammogram should wait until you have recovered, or your risk of becoming ill has passed.

To make an appointment, contact the Ray W. Moody, M.D. Breast Center at 845-333-7040.

Both private health plans and health plans participating in the New York State of Health marketplace cover breast cancer screening at NO COST to the patient. Breast cancer screening is also fully covered through New York’s Medicaid program and the New York State Cancer Services Program.

Qualified uninsured patients are covered by the NYS Cancer Services Program.
