Garnet Health Medical Center Named Among Top 10 percent in Nation for Bariatric Surgery for Sixth Year in a Row

Garnet Health Medical Center is among the top 10 percent in the nation for Bariatric Surgery for the sixth year in a row and a recipient of the Bariatrics Surgery Excellence Award according to new analysis by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems.

Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 31 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions. Garnet Health Medical Center was recognized for Superior Performance in Bariatric Surgery with the Bariatric Surgery Excellence Award for its superior outcomes in surgical techniques to support weight loss efforts as measured by in-hospital complication rates.   

Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Awards recognize hospitals with superior performance in specific specialty lines and specialty focus areas. From 2017-2019, patients treated in hospitals receiving the Bariatric Surgery Excellence Award, have on average, 64% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.
