Garnet Health Announces IT Department Leadership Promotions

Garnet Health, which includes Garnet Health Medical Center, Garnet Health Medical Center – Catskills, Garnet Health Doctors, Garnet Health Urgent Care, Garnet Health Foundation and Garnet Health Foundation – Catskills, is pleased to announce three promotions within the Information Technology Department.
Michael Lorenzo has been promoted to Network Security Director. He joined the organization in January 2016 as a Principal Network Security Engineer. Since then, he has led multiple security initiatives to strengthen cybersecurity and has worked to implement network and security programs throughout the health system, including CISCO ISE, firewall replacements, DMZ redesign, POB design and Garnet Health’s data center upgrade.
Previously, Lorenzo spent 20 years as a Network and Cybersecurity Engineer in the service, retail, insurance and pharmaceutical industries. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
Regina Carey has been promoted to Manager of Business Intelligence. Carey joined Garnet Health in August 2018 as a Senior Business Analytics Analyst. She has played an instrumental role in creating Epic Business Intelligence solutions, implementing nursing unit dashboards and spearheading the adoption of technology that resulted in improved self-service analytical capabilities. Carey will now assume direct oversight of Garnet Health’s Business Intelligence requests.
Before her tenure with Garnet Health, she served in data analytics and quality improvement roles for Good Samaritan Hospital. Carey, a Registered Nurse, holds a BSN Degree from the Chamberlain College of Nursing, is a 2021 Leadership Orange graduate, and is currently pursuing an MBA from Capella University. She also holds Epic Cogito Reporting Analyst and Project Manager certifications.
Katie Haun has been promoted to IT Regulatory Compliance Manager. In this new role, she will assume oversight of ONC Regulations, collaborate with Quality and Garnet Health Doctors leadership for annual regulatory submissions and attestations, and process initiatives to maintain and improve compliance throughout Garnet Health’s programs. She joined the organization in 2015 working within the Quality Department, transitioned into IT as a Business Intelligence Analyst and, in 2020, became an IT Regulatory Compliance Analyst.
During her time at Garnet Health, Haun has assisted in launching DSRIP, PQRS, ERAS, NODA, and was part of the transition to DNV Accreditation. She earned her Master’s Degree in Data Analytics from Southern New Hampshire University.
