As you begin to lose weight – RAPIDLY—you’ll wonder how long you can tighten the belt before you just need to buy some new jeans! Do yourself a favor and go out and buy some new jeans! While you’re at it, buy yourself a few foundational pieces for this transition to your weight loss goal.

You can shop consignment, thrift stores, or on sale to find some key pieces that will help bring union to the mind and body during this transitional time in your life. Reward yourself for all your lifestyle changes, and confirm these changes to yourself with the smaller sized clothing.

Post-Bariatric Surgery Shopping Tips

Here’s a list of some more tips to guide you on shopping after weight loss:

Shop your closet
Your weight may have fluctuated through the years, and maybe you hung onto to some smaller sized clothing. See what you have in your closet. Organize the variety of sizes from biggest to smallest. While you’re at it, put some stuff you no longer want in a bag for donations, regardless of the size.  It’s always healthy to tidy up!

Minimalism during Transition
While you’re on your weight loss journey, make a list of some must needed new items. Prioritize: Work, gym, maybe an upcoming event. No you don’t need new pajamas, but the clothing for the above mentioned activities is necessary. It will add to your confidence when you wear clothing that fits your new frame at the work or the gym.

Purchase for your current size
We know, we know you may lose more weight. But please, shop what you need now and your current size; it’s a part of the process to grasping your weight loss thus far.

Get thrifty
Visit the nearest thrift store, or shop only the sale section to save money. You can even ask some friends who may want to set up a clothing exchange.

Celebrate!
Shopping for new clothing is a fun way to celebrate your successful weight loss thus far. Reward yourself by dressing as the confident and beautiful person you are- you deserve it.

The new you is emerging. Dress for success, and dress for your new body, even if you plan to lose a bit more weight.
